This 24-week full-time program combines in-class instruction with hands-on experience in nursing labs and clinical instruction that is uniquely enriched with Aboriginal ways of knowing and being. Upon graduation students find employment opportunities working in complex care facilities, extended care units, acute care, home support agencies and residential settings.

Early Childhood Education and Care (ECEC)
Blended certificate program
Make a lasting impact on the lives of young children and their families by pursuing a rewarding career in early childhood education. The VIU Early Childhood Education and Care Blended Certificate program gives you the skills and knowledge to work in licensed childcare settings, preparing you for in-demand careers in a growing field.
Courses are delivered in a flexible blended (online and in-person) format making it easier to balance your studies with other commitments.
When you finish the program, you receive the Early Childhood Education and Care Certificate from Vancouver Island University. And you’ll be eligible to apply for the Early Childhood Educator (ECE) Certificate from the ECE Registry. If you want to continue with your studies, you can apply to the ECEC diploma program.
